Please add Collapse/Expand buttons in the Matrix Visualizations. Otherwise when all fields are expanded by default the user would have to scroll a lot to find what they are looking for. I could add a slicer to take user to the data they are looking for but then the rest of the data in the matrix disappears and more specifically the overall totals change!Expand/Collapse buttons would keep the overall totals as intended and totals for other fields while allowing the user to only expand the field they are interested in. Also ability to do conditional formatting for a specific field in the matrix would be nice. Thanks!

With our November update of Power BI Desktop, you can now expand/collapse matrix row headers. You can read more on our blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#expandCollapse A few people were asking about column headers. As some of the work involved for column headers is different than row headers, we want to understand how many users specifically need/want column header support as well. If you need column header support, please vote on this idea that I added to UserVoice: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200/suggestions/36038050

RE: Matrix +/- Collapse/ Expand Buttons

When there is non-numerical data (e.g. text or string) in one of the columns and the values vary between rows what values does it display when the row header is collapsed? At first glance it seems to pick the MIN value of the strings / dates. On the other hand numeric columns are usually fine to be totaled when collapsed. It would be useful for us to have an option to not aggregate the string and date columns when collapsing the row header at least.

RE: Matrix +/- Collapse/ Expand Buttons

For everyone who needs pivot tables with expand/collapse (both for rows and columns) that works with direct connection DB sources: take a look to SeekTable.com (this is free web-based tool).

It seems that the +/- function is not available with Live Connections from a cube. Will there be any updates?

RE: Matrix +/- Collapse/ Expand Buttons

The +/- buttons do not display correctly in Internet Explorer. Many of my users are not adept in their computer abilities, so converting their browser preference is not a simple task. Can we fix the +/- buttons so that Internet Explorer is compatible for them?

RE: Matrix +/- Collapse/ Expand Buttons

More importantly we need to be able to keep the column headers when collapsing a matrix (similar to excel) otherwise large swaths of the report page just look blank which is not great from a visual presentation perspective.
