Apply saved M query to file with particular extension

We've a need to import (zipped) XML files with a particular format. Whilst we can import the XML files, we're having to wire in the path into the M query. Ideally we'd like to be able to associate a particular query with a file extension and have Power BI either offer that as another data source type or just apply the query automatically when the user selects a file with that extension.

Key part is the user should be able to select the file (as per CSV, etc), rather than opening a file as XML then having to go through the M querying again, or wiring in the path to a particular file.
