Power BI User on 29 Sep 2015 03:49:34
When an upgrade is available an end user has to find the link on the internet to upgrade. The software should give us options on how to update and happen from the software itself.

RE: Update Available upgrade automatic opition
Its getting very difficult to update Power BI. On App store, two products seems to be available and is creating confusions. Either at App, update option should available like it is available on Mobiles with upgrade options or the upgrade option should be available on Power BI tool itself.
RE: Update Available upgrade automatic opition
HELL YES! i want to upgrade rather than install fresh every time!!!
RE: Update Available upgrade automatic opition
I completely agree with ALL the comments. Microsoft apps should ALL follow the same basic update path/style/whatever. In a business environment MOST users are not nor should they be local admins on systems and as such the current model for updating is completely insane!!!
Office 365 and onedrive auto update without end users needing local admin, so does Chrome but not this business class tool. Such a shame. At least I have configuration manager to deploy this out to my users but I should not really have to update the deployment every month when you update the tool. Bad form.
Please fix this.
RE: Update Available upgrade automatic opition
Our users our not local administrators on their PCs and cannot simply download a new package an install it. It would be better to automatically update like the OneDrive client. It is too much effort to package a new PowerBI Desktop package every few months and push it to thousands of PCs.
RE: Update Available upgrade automatic opition
Please just provide basic update functionality, as seen with most other programs:
Program starts, checks web for latest version, ask if I want to upgrade and do so, provided I answer yes and have sufficient priviliges.
RE: Update Available upgrade automatic opition
This would be very helpful especially with mass deployments of this software as many of our departments have adopted PowerBI for charting and manipulation Data to help with tracking Productivity and projecting Sales.
If this is a Microsoft product, I am honestly surprised with as much as this application has done and progressed, that it has not been brought into the Microsoft Update services.
This would be better instead of using Batch, VBS, and GPO's to deploy this application across the network in a seamless manner to 100 or so machines.
