RE: Rename fields on the new filter pane

Oh hey, they just delivered this in the April 2019 Power BI Desktop Release. Nice!

RE: Rename fields on the new filter pane

Yeah!

It was awesome when we got the capability to change the names of fields in visualizations. Now, we also need to be able to do so with page-level and report-level filters.

Especially because: what if I change the name of a field in a visualization, AND I have that same field as a report-level filter? They cannot have the same name, which will cause confusion for end users of the report.

I agree. This makes the product more user friendly.

RE: Rename fields on the new filter pane

Highly needed, this draws me back from using this pane as needed

RE: Rename fields on the new filter pane

I was trying to replace some slicers with the filter pane options, but unfortunately couldn't rename the field. Which was a great option in the visuals.

RE: Rename fields on the new filter pane

I agree with this idea. I structure the names of my fields in a way that helps me organize them rather than naming them in an end-user friendly way. The ability to change the names of the filters is a big deal.

RE: Rename fields on the new filter pane

I totally agree. I was here to create the idea myself.
Pass to end user standard filed names is not a good idea.

Also, it would be useful to create "colapsable" sessions on the filter pane...:

:: - Date Filters
:: - Location Filters
:: - Product related filters

So that the user is not overwhelmed by many filters at once... he could choose a category and expand/colapse.

I will se if this one exists and will create it otherwise.

RE: Rename fields on the new filter pane

Hopefully, this will be added soon. Otherwise, the new filter pane is great!

RE: Rename fields on the new filter pane

The new Filters Pane is awesome, the ability to show/hide individual filters and format them are great. But I lacks the the ability to rename fields, one of the most annoying thing we have since the old filter pane. Sometimes we name fields in a more "structured way", instead of a more "logical way". So, since the new Filter Pane was designed for end user experience, it was quite disappointing that we are still unable to rename fields.
