The ability to File/Save As a Report already exists, but the ability to assign an alternate dataset tot he copy of the report seems to be missing and seems to be an obvious expectation. Example, spreadsheets may have identical fields, but represent different datasets such as Week Ending, Month Ending, Year End data. After saving the report, being able to right click on the dataset in the Field location and rebrowse to a new file (spreadsheet in this case) that contains the exact same field headers and table size would allow multiple reuses of the same report.

HELLO, I FOUND A SOLUTION FOR THIS...WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS TO SELECT ALL TABLE & CHART IN CURRENT REPORT, THEN GO TO THE NEW REPORT THAT YOU SETUP LINK O A NEW DATASET, THEN OPEN NEW PAGE, PASTE...THEN ALL THE FORMAT, FORMULA, COLOR CODE WILL FLOW THROUGH TO THE NEW DATA SET HENCE REPORT!

THAT IS THE BEST SOLUTION SO FAR I FOUND FOR HAVING ONE SET OF REPORT FO MULTIPLE ENTITIES/DATASETS....THAT ALLOWS US TO CREATE ONE PERFECT REPORT TEMPLATE THEN ROLL IT OVER TO ALL OTHER DATASETS

ENJOY IT...

You spent all that time to create a nice report, then you have to do it all over again for new dataset...that doesn't make any sense...

Another usage for some thing like this is to take a full report and replace the underlying data with a test or demo data set.

'+1 million

This is an example of the disconnect you often see with MS - fantastic technologies but (initially at least) a lack of understanding as to how people might use it IRL.

If you have an ERP product in which a customer can have their multiple business entities set up (i.e. any ERP product) then if you upload a sales dataset you want to be able to have multiple datasets with the same schema (and different names) and have a given report in Power BI be able to work off any of those datasets. It's insane to have to redefine the same report multiple times.

In other words multiple Power BI datasets representing the multiple business entities in the ERP product, and one Power BI report able to work off any of those datasets assuming their schemas are identical.

This is a make or break issue. It does not scale for me to invest the amount of time it would take to compensate for this missing vital feature. Will inhibit adoption.

I want to be able to create a template report that I can duplicate multiple times. I also need the ability to edit the original data set and be able to edit dataset assignments including adding multiple datasets online because your desktop version does not support mac.
