Please figure out a way to bring in the department and class columns into the General Ledger tables. Without those, I can't view data by location or by class...which is a really big deal for tracking product line profitability.

RE: QuickBooks Online Shortcomings
Really need the class and department columns brought into Power BI for more companies to really use this.
RE: QuickBooks Online Shortcomings
This needs to be fixed asap for PowerBI to be of any use for QBO.
RE: QuickBooks Online Shortcomings
I agree with all the sentiments expressed here. I really want to use Power BI for my business and I can't understand why there was all this work done for the connector to provide proper data sets without these two basic fields. In QBO you have to turn on location and class tracking for there to be data but many many business do use this feature.
RE: QuickBooks Online Shortcomings
I don't understand why this is supported in the desktop connection and not the app.powerbi.com connection. If I want to include classes in my data (which I need in order to report anything meaningful), then I need to use the desktop client and re-upload the Power BI file online every time I want to simply refresh the dashboard. If the QBO+appp.ppowerbi.com connection supported the same level of detail as the QBO+PowerBIDesktop connection, it would be much easier.
RE: QuickBooks Online Shortcomings
Same here, the class function is critical for our organisation for the QBO connector to be useful.
RE: QuickBooks Online Shortcomings
Class details is a minimum data requirement. Without class analysis, I can't report on anything meaningful. Is a workaround available?
RE: QuickBooks Online Shortcomings
In analyzing this bug, I wondered if the problem was with the Power BI query or with the way Intuit exposes the data. As noted above, the Class table in Power BI when accessed through the connector was blank. When I used Intuit's API explore and entered the command "Select * from Class" I got data. It looks like this issue can be easily resolved, but right now it is a show stopper for me because all of my clients use the Class table to distinguish their business segments. As it stands, I cannot use Power BI.
RE: QuickBooks Online Shortcomings
The lack of departments and classes that are in the QBO data but not brought into Power BI means that you can't analyze or report on individual business segments or locations. That is a deal breaker for many companies. This situation makes the product unusable for me and it has existed for over a year. Please let us know what the status of this request is.
RE: QuickBooks Online Shortcomings
Bringing in all information stored in Quickbooks such as class, locations, account numbers, etc should be the priority. Better to have more information in Power BI than not enough, that way the user can filter what they need and what they don't.
RE: QuickBooks Online Shortcomings
Hi Dave,
I'm having the same issue but this doesn't appear to be high up in the list of things to do for the Power BI developers. Too bad, the QB data link is not really useful to me unless that data is in there.
Keno, to your comment, how could we add this to the QuickBook data link wizard so that we could see this data in our selection list?
Thanks,
Jimmy
