I would be Nice to have option for setting dotted or solid lines for each rowset in a linechart. typically used for illustrating Budget/forecasts (dotted) and actuals (solid)

You can do this as of our August update of the Power BI Desktop! Check out the details in our blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-august-2017-feature-summary/#lineStyles

RE: dotted lines in linecharts

Hi It would be really nice to add the dotted line/diffenrent color line for the missing data values. Currently you can show the gaps for the missing days/values but adding this functionality can make power bi really shine.

Check out the best practices suggested by Stephen Few:

Thanks

RE: dotted lines in linecharts

For those looking for this feature, we have identified an issue in our October 2017 release of Desktop that is prevent the UI from showing. The fix will be included in the November 2017 release of Desktop. It is a Desktop only bug, so in the meantime, as a workaround you can edit your reports in the web to add your line styles. Thanks for reporting it and your patience while we resolve the issue.

RE: dotted lines in linecharts

I'm seeing the same thing in the October 2017 update - the Visualizations pane, Shapes section is back to only showing Stroke width and Join type. All the new properties have been removed.

RE: dotted lines in linecharts

Can this functionality be added to the line and bar charts as well?

RE: dotted lines in linecharts

Agree with the comments above, charting functionality should at the very least replicate what I can do in Excel. This is also fairly standard functionality in Spotfire as well, would definitely help with adoption in my organization. Thanks!

RE: dotted lines in linecharts

Really need this for our internal use. The Engineers are building their own charts in excel and it is causing a whole lot of consistency issues.

RE: dotted lines in linecharts

Anyone that creates charts would be interested in this Industry-Standard functionality. Currently, with no ability to change line-type or bar/column fill, there are very few options to accomodate users with visual impairments such as Color-Blindness, which is a significant cross-section of our company's report consumers. If you have multiple lines on a chart, you can't even make one thicker than the other in order to differentiate. It's either 'all or nothing'.

The incredible lack of standard reporting options that are missing from Power BI is very frustrating and incredibly surprising.
