Connecting Power BI Report Server Shared Data Source from Power Bi DeskTop. This Feature is available in Power BI Service. We can connect Power Bi Service published data sources from Power BI Desktop. However this is not available in On-Premise.

Would be great to have shared data sets to reduce duplication of data and align it with data governance processes. Would also be great to have shared data sets with certified quality and some associated meta data attributes such as data owner, information sensitivity, etc.
Another thing would be interesting is an option to publish these shared models to SSAS

Agree its hard work to manage lots of PBI Reports even if I have a small number of data sources. Surprised this is not yet a feature. This and easy deployment stop the on premise being an enterprise product.

This feature is very important for security. If the IT can manage the sources by publishing it on PBIRS then the user don't need to connect directly to the datasource but just through the PBIRS. In a big society it is strictly forbiden to connect a desktop to a datasource. Futher more, other product like Tableau implement this feature like the power BI services. So i don't understand why this feature is not already done.

This feature is very critical for every user who is migrating their reports from SSRS to power bi report server

It would be great have SSRS shared data sources accessible for PowerBI report (on-premises) same as Paginated reports, it reduces lot of manual activity to change data-sources in each report, specially when there are 50+ PowerBI reports and all are connected to central database WH server.

This would be a great feature as it would allow you to refresh the data in one place and then have multiple reports connecting to that data for the visualizations. This is like connecting to SSAS but the development using Power BI to build the data source is much easier.
