This is especially important for matrix visuals. My company relies on a self-serve data approach. Currently we have to rely on complex sets of tables and bookmarks to handle all the ways that an end user may want to view their data; the end users find this confusing. I've been considering other software that can do this in a way that is easier, with drag and drop row/column hierarchies that end-users can change, not just developers.

RE: Allow end users to change data hierarchy in visuals.

I agree with this. If a user is browsing a report with a data set that has 4 or more dimensions that constitute a hierarchy, then there are too many combinations to practically display the corresponding visuals on a single report page. In fact, the number of possible ordered combinations would be 4*3*2*1 = 24. Maybe not all of those order combinations are logical or meaningful, but it would be nice to let the user define how they are sliced and in which order, making it more flexible for the user and less burdensome for the report author.
