Power BI Desktop cannot connect to the Services Content Packs like the web app can. It would be great to take the OOTB packs and customize using Power BI Desktop Query Editor. The content packs don't pull in all the data possible, so customization becomes necessary but the effort to start from scratch is prohibitive.

This is incredibly important - loading on a web surely is inconvenient.

It would be great to have the Google Analytics templates that are in the web version also available in the desktop. We use embedded Power BI in our custom report website, so we need to use pbix files.

Just give me some way to manage relationships with tables from content packs. I literally just need 1 field from 1 table but it's impossible to do without being able to edit relationships online or use content packs in Desktop.

What is the point of content packs if users cannot connect to them using the desktop tool. We do not want (and cannot for security reasons) allow proliferation of login credentials to wide user base. How can these users use contents packs to create own reports/dashboards if cannot connect using desktop client.

Either the ability to load these service content packs in to Power BI desktop or alternatively the ability export from BI Service to a pbix file that you can then edit with BI desktop.
I've prefer the later as this resolves several other limitations.

I agree. I am surprised content packs cannot be connected to using PBI Desktop.
