Currently any member of a workspace can overwrite the existing dataset by publishing their version to that workspace. It would be beneficial if only workspace Admins and/or the Dataset Owner could overwrite an existing dataset as the current option allows for the dataset to be manipulated by members which would then impact all reports within that workspace as well as and published apps. As an organisation we want to be able to trust that a dataset built by our BI team will not be altered unless approved/agreed with the dataset owner as to do so could cause conflicting data results.

RE: Only allow the owner of a dataset to overwrite it

It will be nightmare when overwrite each other files into the workspace (with many contributors) since no version history. Owner/Admin ability to control whether it can be overwritten or not. Competitors are better handling these things! so Power BI Should!!!
