Due to report complexity it now takes many minutes (ie>5min often times) to do something as simple as create a measure.

I would like the ability to stop the calculations so that I can do a bunch of updates and then apply them at once, as I don't need to see the results while working. Just like setting calculations to manual in Excel.

Agree, we need this feature as soon as possible! Would be so helpful.

Every person should vote for this!!! constantly having to just write formulas in Notepad to then copy and paste into Power BI and wait for the app to catch up. Takes hours to just enter 20+ formula.

'Additionally, it would seem very very useful to have
- a more general "stop all automatic calculations" option
- an ad-hoc "compute now" buttom
to allow a user to enter the DAX for multuiple new computed measures / columns etc.

The user coud then either signal to the system either :
a) press the "compute now" button
OR
b) change the general setting back to "automatically compute"
etc

Reports seem to require less loading when on a new page without visuals.
