Apply field formatting to row headers

In a matrix visual, I have multiple measures, and I've turned on "Show on rows," so that each measure appears in a row rather than in a column.

Now, when I apply field formatting with "Apply to header" = 'On', the field formatting does not get applied to the row header. I expected it would.

Please fix this so that field formatting can be applied to row headers, the same as column headers. Thanks!

RE: Apply field formatting to row headers

Please add this. It's a very basic requirement and this idea is more than 2 years old now. The ability to format rows and columns in a matrix is severely lacking in PBI.

RE: Apply field formatting to row headers

The Power BI Matrix has some nice features but us SEVERELY limited on formatting control of rows, columns, etc. Conditional formatting can only be applied to values which is fine for a "standard" type of report, but if you are trying to do something custom with text, it is very limited. Numerous other tools such as Eclipse and BIRT and Tableau can do this easily. I would need to change both the font, font size, and font color for different row headers based on a text value. I could convert the text value into a number with some DAX, but the engine doesn't even provide a conditional formatting allowance for the row headers. This is very disappointing...

Conditional Formatting on Row headers would be a great addition for users trying to create a financial PandL. Being able to highlight certain row headers to stand out from others would be beneficial.

RE: Apply field formatting to row headers

When you are looking at periodic review you want 40 items across 13 periods. At the moment I can only do 48 on the top and 13 rows it looks naff.

Wow, this one has been an issue for quite a while. This is a pretty elementary need to get reports looking acceptable. Any progress?

RE: Apply field formatting to row headers

Same here, very frustrating. Seems like a bug as according to the settings that are available it should be there. But doesn't work anymore when 'Show on rows' is activated.

Crucial for layout in most of my reports.

RE: Apply field formatting to row headers

This needs to be done. So annoying when I have Values as Rows, and the field formatting won't apply to the row Header like it does if I leave the values as columns. C'mon MSFT, get it fixed!
