I really like the custom visualizations but, I would like to suggest the following improvements in the custom visual gallery: Link to blog post explaining the visuals directly from the gallery.
Possibility to leave feedback and improvements for the visuals also in the gallery. Suggest new visuals and vote for them.

RE: Improve custom visualizations gallery

Here's another suggestion:
add information to Appsource the lets you know if a custom visual is certified or not. Now there's a default disclaimer saying that any addon may transmit any information to a 3rd party this is true for all vizualisations as far as I can tell.

Here's a list about this at the moment:

Yes, they should copy the WordPress plugin directory aspect with search and parsing. Beyond this they must choose the best ones and integrate them directly into Power BI e.g. the top custom visual of every quarter gets integrated into the desktop build formally.

RE: Improve custom visualizations gallery

Another update:

I use wordpress in all my websites and they have a similar case with their plugins, as we have with custom visuals.

There is a gallery with all the plugins and I believe the plugin library is what makes wordpress so powerful ( the main reason I chose them at least).

Here is the suggestion:
In power bi, there should be an admin side for the custom plugins, where updates can be done, as well as get notifications when a visual has been updated and which version of power bi it is compatible with. Before updating to a new power bi desktop, all custom visuals should be tested and in the admin view reported as compatible with the new power bi version.

If this is not possible to do within power bi desktop, it is enough if in the power bi update announcement it is reported if all the custom visuals have been tested and updated if needed.

I have had a few crashes with the visuals and I am using them less and less..

RE: Improve custom visualizations gallery

Two more ideas:
Be able to remove the custom visuals from the power bi file and
receive updates when the owner updates the custom visual.
