Content packs are a great invention, but they would be even greater if I could share them with users outside my organization!

I frequently create PowerBI "packages" (dataset, reports, dashboards) for clients on my company's account, then once approved I "deploy" them to the client's PowerBI account; this is now a somewhat cumbersome process which would be greatly simplified if I could just create a content pack, share it with them, and open it from their account.

Upvoted - While I know it may have a different name / implementation I have been saying that I need the ability to create a unique data model / visuals to interpret data provided by other companies for over a year now. Until I get that I have low motivation to invest my own time in building data models that would in the end sell more subscriptions. I see many examples for system integrators, modeling Sales Force custom objects, modeling custom O365 for financials queries, modeling QuickBooks Online, etc, etc

It would awesome if the company could share its report with, for example an organization of a customer, that it would be a outside organization.

Microsoft should open the app store functionality to PBI Admin roles, so we can make apps available to other PBI Pro subscriptions. Currently the apps are only available publicly or within an organization. We need a 3rd option to share between organizations.
We would use this to share our apps with our partner organizations to help promote/grow their PBI offering.

This is a great idea. This will help Power BI as well, when good content packs developed by the community are available to everyone. Microsoft can open a Power BI Content Pack App Store, which will help propel the growth further.

Agree with the sentiments here, sharing to Clients without 0365 account is essential

As John Cooper said a year ago, this is critical for system integrators. I want to be able to encourage all my clients to buy 10-20 PowerBI seats rather than have to hack together a solution with temporary accounts. In this case PowerBI Embedded is not sufficient because the clients need to interact with the data on their own.

Bugging our customers with dummy accounts to give them access to the data they need is not really innovative and user friendly; this got my vote too!

Need this too. No Sharing is no client reports

RE: Publish content pack outside your organization

I think the PowerBI team misunderstood the community when it asked for the capability to share outside the organisation. Everyone was expecting dashboards to be shared as part of a larger ecosystem. If Microsoft wants to be the leader in BI, then it needs to allow PowerBI to be integrated seamlessly as an ecosystem. Companies need to be able to cross share reports and dashboards amongst each other (obviously security will be something you have to consider). Hence, once one company is on board, all their clients and vendors will follow suit. There will be a natural chain reaction and growth will be astronomical.

Imagine the world where a manufacturing plant in China monitors it's production, warehouse, and logistics via PowerBI and their clients all over the world have access to this information seamlessly to know where their orders are at. At the same time, the factory's suppliers have access to similar information so that they can start producing components in preparation of demand.

Good luck and make our dreams come true !
