New filter pane date range

I would ideally like to move all of my filters over to the new filter pane, but there is no equivalent for the date slicer visual available. To assign a specific date range in the new filter pane, you must set the filter type to Advanced and configure it with "is on or after" "AND" "is on or before" and regardless of the fact that the field is set as DATE not DATETIME, it always presents the time selection. This is clunky and confusing for the end user. A simple card with FROM and TO fields that present a calendar selector when each field is clicked into would be preferred.
