The application is very good work and has impressive visualizations, but most of the company policies don't permit to host data over MS cloud, so are there any plans for making power BI services available using on premises server??

RE: Power BI on premises server

Apparently Microsoft is working heavily on this. There is a preview for an on premises solution for the Power BI visualisations here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=54610

I haven't tested yet but I will do it in the next days.

RE: Power BI on premises server

agreed, PowerBI needs on on premise only version for financial customers healthcare customers, it also needs integration with Azure Information Protection to ensure you have not published highly confidential information into the cloud

RE: Power BI on premises server

Powerbi Lost 2 Govt Customers because of no On-Prem Option

A partner an I have both presented PowerBi Dashboards to units within 2 agencies (DOJ and Army Corp Of Engineers). In both cases, the clients loved the dashboards and PowerBI. When the discussion turned to how to implement and we noted the requirement for Online PowerBI both clients indicated this was not an acceptable option.
If an on-premises option is in the roadmap this needs to be communicated. At this point, I have to explain during the requirements phase that PowerBI does not have an on-premise option which will in the case of govt agencies - remove PowerBI as an option.

RE: Power BI on premises server

We would strongly consider using Power BI but the majority of our budget comes from capitalized expenses. Hosting Power BI in the cloud requires us to record this as an operational expense which means we are unable to purchase the product.

RE: Power BI on premises server

Will there be features in SSRS 2016 that addresses the Power BI on premise capability? Power BI looks like it can be a Tableau fighter, but without on premise server, it's not something we can realistically utilize.

RE: Power BI on premises server

I have the same concern. This is top priority for my company to be able to secure our data with an on premise server. Please let me know if Microsoft has any plan to implement this.

Thanks;
