Often we need to expand on an idea from one report further and copy and paste visuals/pages from one PBIX to another. This would be a huge productivity and quality benefit.

We are excited to announce that this shipped in our November update of PBI Desktop: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#copyPaste For those asking, it will be included in the next version of Power BI Desktop for Report Server as well.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

How come when I copy a visual from one power BI file to another, the visual filters don't copy? What is the point if each time I copy a visual, I have to put back all the page level filters.

That does not answer the request of copying PBIX tabs or merging 2 files. Copying and pasting 1,000s of visuals manually is time-consuming.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

Actually, not completed. We can select & copy paste OBJECTS from a page in one PBIX to another, but we cannot copy a complete PAGE from PBIX to PBIX.

Difference? Copy page (in theory) should copy *everything* about a page (size, color, fonts, viz) from one file to another - same as creating a copy of an existing page withing the same file. REALITY: Step 1 - check page FORMAT options in new PBIX against original, Step 2 - Open selection pane in original file, select all, then click COPY, Step 3 - Switch to new PBIX & click PASTE, Step 4 - open selection pane in the new PBIX & adjust the layer order for each object so that new page resembles original.

If excel allows for this, it would be logical to assume this product should allow it too.

I Agree with Mathias, copy/pasting visuals is great but the original suggestion included copy/pasting pages. That would be awesome !

I really like this feature, thankyou. One thing that would be more useful is to also bring over custome measures that are included in the object you are copy-pasting - specifically when querying AAS Cube
