I'd love to be able to link to Trello and be able to spin my cards in various ways. See number of open cards, number of cards assigned to members, etc.

RE: Trello

Hello Guys

Why Power BI cannot connect to a Private Trello board even with the credentials assigned?

RE: Trello

This can be done via export, but I'd like an automated connector into Trello Business (it works for public boards, but not for private boards that require authentication) - for some reason, attempting to connect to the JSON link in Power BI Desktop either gives me a "No such interface supported" or "we couldn't authenticate with the credentials provided". I've set up a good model but I hate exporting the data by hand to refresh it and I'd love to keep it up to date directly.

You don't even need a native connector - please just work out whatever the authentication issue is!

RE: Trello

You don't need API.
Just push button "Export board" on your Trello board, choose JSON format
Then take appeared link of your board in address panel with .json at the end of the link
And than put it as a web source to Power BI
After that you have to decompose all records into tables and so on

'@Bradford Will, can you share the code you used in Power BI to query the Trello API?

RE: Trello

Bradford Wills, can you share with me the dashboard, please? I'm looking for a way to connect Trello data with PBI and so far I haven't been able to do it live. Are you exporting JSON files and updating manually or is it live? If you could contact me, I'd appreciate (leonardorigueto@gmail.com or leonardo.rigueto@ambev.com.br)

Thanks!

RE: Trello

Btw, if you need to get the data into Excel, there is a good site I just found, json-xls.com/json2xls, that converts the Trello JSON export to .xlsx format. This could easily be used to set up a data query. Though long-term, I do think a native connector would be really beneficial!

RE: Trello

Of all the task management apps out there such as asana, swipes and basecamp, Trello is probably the most ideal candidate for Power BI. It makes sense as it uses a similar Tile and Dashboard function making the 2 very similar in functionality and looks.
