Dataflows would be really useful if you could connect to them via DirectQuery. This would mean that we could query enormous dataflows that are not practical to load to the Data model and can make aggregate dataflows that we load to the Data model.
Unsure if this is possible with the architecture of a Dataflow, but it could be quite handy if it is possible.

RE: Dataflows Direct Query
'Hello Admin - we need more details about this feature:
- when is general availability planned?
- I don't see an option to connect directly when connecting using getdata-> powerbi dataflows. Data is being loaded into the model ( increase in size of PBI file) and in advanced property of the model view option to change storage mode -> direct query provides following error: Import tables cannot be converted to direct query.
FYI - enhanced option is enabled in premium capacity and enhanced metadata preview disabled in PBI desktop.
How is this feature supposed to work?
RE: Dataflows Direct Query
Any update on this?
RE: Dataflows Direct Query
Is this already available? Because it should be released in April.
RE: Dataflows Direct Query
This is all I can see: https://www.screencast.com/t/qZTMKGCr - no changes and no options to enable Direct Query for Dataflows in tenant settings for Power BI.
RE: Dataflows Direct Query
'@937627150-maignan, can you post an screenshot? Is this a tenant setting that has to be enabled?
RE: Dataflows Direct Query

RE: Dataflows Direct Query
This is need to keep this platform as the preferred options among competing options.
Please add this.
RE: Dataflows Direct Query
Good news, just checking 2020 features, it is planned to go live on april: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform-release-plan/2020wave1/business-intelligence/dataflows-directquery
RE: Dataflows Direct Query
Definately a must....it's a backwards step without it.
RE: Dataflows Direct Query
If a dataset can connect to datflows through live connection. It will be really helpful as we dont have to assume refresh timings and place on schedule one after other.
