Often we need to expand on an idea from one report further and copy and paste visuals/pages from one PBIX to another. This would be a huge productivity and quality benefit.

We are excited to announce that this shipped in our November update of PBI Desktop: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#copyPaste For those asking, it will be included in the next version of Power BI Desktop for Report Server as well.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

Please do it on priority basis. We are re-working on many objects due to not availability of this feature .

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

It has been almost 18 months in "under review" and we need this feature very much to improve the productivity.
It can be released in phases/versions - first, allowing copy paste between PBIX files of same data source/data set and then in second phase, allowing copy paste from two different sources.

If nothing else, please let us edit the layout file in the unzipped PBIX file. Whatever restriction is on that file that prevents basic updates needs to be removed.

'@Betsy Hofflin I have just switched a report from an ODBC connection to a SSAS 2016 tabular data model. I had to delete every table from the report before it allowed me to connect to the tabular model in live query mode. When I deployed the report it produced an error which I fixed by opening the file with 7zip and deleted the Data Model file.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

I'm converting a report from SQL query source to SSAS tabular source and am having to recreate everything. Please add this!

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

Please add this :) We had it in QlikView and it made a world of difference, as then you can really use Power BI like the new Excel.
