Often we need to expand on an idea from one report further and copy and paste visuals/pages from one PBIX to another. This would be a huge productivity and quality benefit.

We are excited to announce that this shipped in our November update of PBI Desktop: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#copyPaste For those asking, it will be included in the next version of Power BI Desktop for Report Server as well.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

This is absolutely critical for us to be able to share reports with users, meet deadlines, separate/theme our reports but still be able to create consolidated reports without having to rebuild entire tabs that exist in another PBIX file. Please provide an update on plan to release this feature.

I second the "Could we have at least the visual attributes pasted over (color, size, font, etc) and it would ask for the attributes and metrics?" from Anonymous & Aaron Bass comments: "this idea is critical for collaboration and meeting deadlines" below.

Any updates to timeline / possibility please. Thanks!

Even if you could enable us to view the build instructions for a visualization
like in power query M advance editor
We could copy these to notepad and dump into another pbix at our own risk.

Could we have at least the visual attributes pasted over (color, size, font, etc) and it would ask for the attributes and metrics? I am trying to past a collection of slicers from one PBIS to another.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

It should be possible to copy a visual from one pbix file to another.
I know that the data would be invalid but the visual's layout, shape, color and everything would be ready.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

Would it be easier to enable this functionality for live connections first? If the underlying dependencies don't match, then the charts would just show up with errors. But when you're moving/copying a page between two reports looking at the same live data source, they should align just fine.

On the user end, this would feel similar to what happens when changing or updating a report's live data source. Each chart either lines up with the new source or it doesn't. When it doesn't, the chart simply breaks because it can't find what it's looking for in the new source. This works great and I use this feature all the time, so I wonder if that could translate to this context. Perhaps allowing copy/paste across files for live connections would be easier to develop, or perhaps not. But it's a thought. :)

Voted. Even if to begin with it's for small things like colour formats, dimensions and similar settings. Being unable to do this means that consistency between reports is awkward to achieve.

Under Review? :$

No point of backing up my report!!

Incase I need to revert back to a old visual or formatting, I have no way of using the previous version!!! :(

I assumed this basic option would be available
