Often we need to expand on an idea from one report further and copy and paste visuals/pages from one PBIX to another. This would be a huge productivity and quality benefit.

We are excited to announce that this shipped in our November update of PBI Desktop: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#copyPaste For those asking, it will be included in the next version of Power BI Desktop for Report Server as well.

This is use drawback for Power BI, if we have this option,we will save lot of time to create reports usning the same datasets.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

Need a way to combine PBIXs into 1. I have many PBIXs that analyse similar data, but for different cases (products, if you like). I know want to compare the output across cases (across PBI reports).

This is is huge drawback with Power BI. I need to recreate some complex reports due to this limitation.

Very annoying that this cant be done as we use common visualizations with all the custom design features across many reports. As far as I can see these have to be re-built for each report. This would be most useful if it was available.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

I am currently updating a standard report that we provide for our clients, and as part of this update I have have created a new data set in a new desktop file (replacing Excel files with API access to the data), intending to take across the existing visuals and formatting. I now find that I can't copy and past the visuals between .pbix files and have to go through and re-build the report from scratch. Very annoying. I second all of the comments below... this is a much needed behaviour (I wouldn't even call it a feature, rather it should be a natural part of the "Windows" behaviour). Please provide a time frame for this to become part of the base solution.

I realize it is not just a simple matter to copy a report page from one file to another. One must also copy the query and relationships. It would be a nice option to merge two reports.

In that case, you can copy/paste a set of visuals into another workbook.
For example, this feature is avaliable in QlikView and this, grown up our produtivity.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

As I'm sure you are aware, this feature is available in other visualization tools. In that case, you can copy/paste a set of visuals into another workbook. The data source connection comes with the visuals. This is important for collaboration with a team and organization.
