As a workaroud for this inconvenience, in DAX Studio you can right click on a measure and select "Define Dependent Measures". It will show the code for all measures that the selected measure depends on.

This functionality is required. Creating additional columns in the data model is not a good practice to work around this problem.

Having this support in the current times is even more crucial to help segregate users based on the new app based licensing model. Currently as a workaround in our organization we add users to individual security groups and also parent group.

Agreed. Since a lot of our one a day dataflows run overnight if the PBI services gives an error like service unavailable, we've lost that data for the entire day. We have to check when we're all available for this and then refresh it which causes the business owners some heartache.
