Have independent controls to include and format data labels when using Line and Column Chart visualizations. This visualization is essential to have data analyses with different value ranges, which means it is likely to have different labeling needs for data expressed in columns than the one used to expressed in lines.

The original request was to format the line and columns separately, which you can do today through the customize series option. Here's a post detailing the feature: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/blog/power-bi-desktop-june-2018-feature-summary/#comboLabels

RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts

I want labels for my line, and not my stacked columns.

My work around for now is to make my inner padding as large as possible (makes the columns skinny). Then turn on labels, and reduce the visual's width until the stacked column's labels are too large to display.

It will be really great if we have this feature incorporated in the upcoming releases.

RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts

Is there any updated or news about how to get this functionality, since today (28-feb), I can not see that functionality in power bi.

RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts

Could you please let me know how to sum up the stack data label values and display it on outside end position(I,e on top of entire bar).

I don't want to see data labels for each stack in a bar instead I would like to see the sum of the stack data label values on top of the bar.

RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts

The position settings of the labels only apply to the bars and there are no such settings for the line. Please add the label position parameter/option for line chart as well.

RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts

I've seen dozens of requests for this feature in the Power BI Ideas forums. The first one that I found was made nearly 3 years ago. There may be more than 100 requests for this. Some of them, like this one, get hundreds of votes, yet Microsoft says nothing. Cmon, Microsoft, it's time to give us this long awaited solution.

RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts

My clients almost always has a target line or two, where they don't want to see the labels. However they do want to see them on the bars which values change daily.

please include ASAP!

RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts

Please work on this! Most of the time you only need to show the labels for one of the components (line or bars).

I'll solve this with R in the meantime.
