Grouping Fields into dimensions and measures will allow for quickly locating the fields and helps design reports faster, rather than searching the long list of fields.

RE: Grouping Fields into dimensions and measure

Hello. To achieve this, I create a new table called Measures with a distinct value from one of my fields. Then I hide this value, and add all my measures to this table so I can find them easily.

RE: Grouping Fields into dimensions and measure

In Desktop I would love the ability to group measures and fields into folders. For example I have a lot of measures that relate to dollar sales, unit sales, and cost. I'd love to be able to categorize the measures into folders that relate to the mentioned above. It would help minimize time spent looking for what you need.

RE: Grouping Fields into dimensions and measure

Please implement this feature (in de cloud) like the current display folders in SSAS Tabular. See also the https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi/suggestions/10858272-ability-to-group-fields-into-sub-folders
request. Showing a cube with a hundred measures in a long list is really not workable.

RE: Grouping Fields into dimensions and measure

I wonder if it would be possible to have the ability to create custom groups. For instance, one could combine fields from multiple dimensions or measure groups into one. Or one could separate fields from the same dimension into two separate groups. This would allow to represent the underlying fields in a more user-oriented way.

RE: Grouping Fields into dimensions and measure

This is really a must. I would like to set a specific field as dimension or measure field. And then i would be able for to me sort the field list. Or when i'm in visualisations --> Value, that measures will be shown. I also use alot of % in front of key fields. these should be one top. And last thing : Sort the field list on alphabetic order :)

RE: Grouping Fields into dimensions and measure

Ideally, it would be nice if we could create folders and organize fields the way we want. For instance, when you create time calculations, you end up with many measures (Previous Year, YTD, Year over Year...) that could easily be put in one folder per measure for better readability.

RE: Grouping Fields into dimensions and measure

Is there a way to change a field that Power BI has determined to be a Measure, into a Dimension. For instance, Month Number. Also, if I decide to use Month Name, can I change the sort from Alphabetic to my own sort order, e.g., Jan, Feb, Mar.....

RE: Grouping Fields into dimensions and measure

Thanks ! This will greatly reduce the "search" for the right field
