Currently live connections do not support composite models. (see https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/34922932-composite-models-when-connected-to-sql-server-anal). A common need is to create a disconnected slicers to allow the user to choose between various measures. These slicers depend on tables created for these purposes that does not need to be connected (e.g. a relationship established) to the rest of the data model. The tables can be created through Power Query by importing or data entry. Dax can also be used to create these tables.
Short of full composite support for live connections I propose the creation of simple disconnected tables be allowed.
