Support the ability to create a workspace under another one, inheriting it's permissions. Then allow this sub workspace to refine the permissions, etc.

If users have access to the parent and the child workspaces, then dashboards would support tiles from either location.

RE: Support Workspace Hierarchy

Naming conventions to organize anything is a recipe for disaster. All it takes is a few misspellings, spaces, etc before it's a true mess, especially when you have many report writers. How is it that the concept of folders or a hierarchy eluded the designers of workspaces? On-prem ReportServer for PowerBI supports folders. Don't you want customers going from On-prem to an Azure service?

RE: Support Workspace Hierarchy

Another +1 here! Getting somewhat out of hand; Naming conventions only go so far.

RE: Support Workspace Hierarchy

Very much needed. The UI is getting cluttered very quickly with no method to orginize properly.

RE: Support Workspace Hierarchy

Hierarchies or even display folders for separate workspaces would be very helpful. I had a recent conversation with a client who requested this due to the need to manage so many separate workspaces.

RE: Support Workspace Hierarchy

Very much needed enhancement.

My example is i have departments and have teams within them. Sharing to the department isnt appropriate, but the underlying dataset pulls everything for the department. if i could structure the Teams under the departments, i can push out access via the teams instead thus securing information more dynamically and specifically to access requirements. Especially under the new data protection laws (UK/EU) where you need to make sure you do not give access to those whom do not need it

RE: Support Workspace Hierarchy

I have 1 sales report for the whole sales team with row security set by the regions. There are multiple dashboards created for each region, but there is NO way to organize them by folders so they are quite messy! Please allow to create dashboard folders so I can group between 20-50 dashboards by Region.

RE: Support Workspace Hierarchy

Definitely need this. As it is Workspaces get messy very quickly and too many are created because you can't segregate content at all. Sub folders in a Workspace would fix that.

RE: Support Workspace Hierarchy

This is consistent with the behavior of Sharepoint Groups and even in Teams. There is no easy way of grouping similar areas together in way subsequent to their creation or a way to usefully organize upfront. In Power BI I think this grouping approach would be useful having access to nearly 100 workspaces is already overwhelming, and I would probably prefer it if the grouping approach could be done using tags, or filterable items so that I can group workspaces in more than one hierarchical tree - ie. according to a line of business all the workspaces or group all workspaces that relate to a specific functional area.

RE: Support Workspace Hierarchy

I was looking for the ability to have a hierarchy of folders within Workspaces. I don't care about the permissions issue. One additional issue for me is we are an O365 and Teams shop with o365 Groups acting as Power BI Workspaces. We would like o365 / Teams groups to be invisible to Power BI by default, and only include them via a deliberate enabling step.
