We really love the new feature of 'Composite Models' in the Power BI July 2018 update! This enables us to join custom lists with DirectQuery sources.
It would also be beneficial if this would also work when connected to SSAS Tabular in DirectQuery.
This would stronlgy improve the enterprise features of Power BI.

This is still the ultimate goal, I saw this announcement....does anyone know if this can be extended to SSAS on-prem? Not Azure AS?

Josh BI UK. I would beg to differ. Is Business Users need to combine other data, they are going to do it. Allowing them to do this in Power BI gives the Admins some opportunity to monitor that (possibly using Telemetry in Power BI.com to check which Models have been deployed). Otherwise, users would do this but in Excel or Power Point or some other way. It's impossible to stop that. you know what they say...if you can't beat them..

Could you please give an update of whenever you plan to implement this. It's really important in a self service perspective to get this in place.

Implementing this would absolutely cement Power BI as a viable analytic and data visualization tool.

We are in the same boat needing the ability to create summaries from multiple existing datasets.

My team has created around 22+ reports and now there is an ask from management to create a summary page linking back to those reports. This feature would be a lifesaver for me. I can't really do much with PBI dashboards.

We are about to hit 2020 - Backlog update appears to be Sept 2018... ?!! At least allow disconnected slicer tables...as an interim ?
