Ability to exclude a table from Data Refresh (scheduled, manual, API, etc.) in the Service.
In PBI Desktop, we have an option "Include in report refresh" we can disable for a table. But it won't affect PBI Service.

This is a bug, not an enhancement. It needs to be prioritized and fixed as a bug (i.e. asap)

RE: Exclude a table from refresh in Power BI Service

I support the need to exclude tables from refresh in Service.

I have a combination of Onedrive Excel files and Oracle tables. I used Web connector as well as DirectQuery Oracle connector. I will exclude the Oracle tables from refreshing in Desktop, but this is not possible in Service. And the Scheduled Refresh fails.

Please fix this issue so that I can archive tables with "As of" dates.

RE: Exclude a table from refresh in Power BI Service

Big oversight, needs to be fixed on PowerBI.com Portal to match the Desktop option! Have raised a case (likely not the only one) and they've acknowledged, but it's not on their ETA timeline yet, so keep voting.

PowerBI.com customers should be able to have static tables with refresh disabled to avoid setting up unnecessary Gateway datasources to their PC which will eventually FAIL when PC or server switched off! Pasting into "Enter Data" tables is not always a solution as they only allow 3,000 cells.

Its perhaps good to encourage permanently refreshable Azure SQL DBs instead of static or semi-static tables, but better to fix this.

RE: Exclude a table from refresh in Power BI Service

As many others here said, this is very bad design. You basically disable refresh and it still wants to refresh the data source in Service. Just please fix it.

Hi everyone, found a "workaround" for this issue; watch this video on youtube, explains how to convert your file into a new query

NOTE: if you have lots of data (i.e. rows & columns) this may not work, but it solved an issue i had with a file including over 85k rows.

Excluding this options seems a bit out of touch with the reality of the work done by analysts. Surprising for this otherwise brilliant product which the Power Bi is.
