Currently, there is no support for direct query on template apps: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-template-apps-overview#known-limitations
This feature would enable report and dashboard sets to be editable by users with databases that have the same predefined schema as the template. It offers a great way to have editable standard reports and dashboards with customer tailored data.
