The PowerBI Designer is missing integration with the Data Catalog and there is no online search functionality. The data catalog is a core component of the reporting solution so let me use it with the Power BI Designer

RE: Data Catalog integration in PowerBI Designer
The ability to access our existing Power Query (PQ) queries which we built in Excel and uploaded to our Data Catalog Query or even our recent data sources in Excel to make them also accessible in Power BI desktop (PBI) and preferably synced across MS Power BI applications.(at least between excel & PBI).
Importing the excel file is great 1st time round but it is not the solution as any future PQ amendments in the source excel file cannot currently be "updated" in the PBI file.
A new import of the updated excel file with amended queries generates a new .pbix and loses all previous development of datamodel & reports.
The Power Query data source “Data Catalog” is a great function for also sharing queries across the organisation and thus a Power BI developer team. Even some source control of queries would be helpful.
If you too think this feature would help Power BI then please click the VOTE button on the left now. Thanks together we can “Have the Power BI”.

I agree
RE: Data Catalog integration in PowerBI Designer
when PowerBI, PowerQuery, Tabular and PowerBI Designer will support Azure Data Catalog site?
RE: Data Catalog integration in PowerBI Designer
I agree with Anonymous (Jan 29)- the low vote for this is disappointing (currently 74 vs 750). Hopefully this feature can be reinstated soon - I have no interest in the new PowerBI until this is available.
RE: Data Catalog integration in PowerBI Designer
Since you are integrating Power Query in the PowerBI Designer, all features from the Excel version, including the Data Catalog, should be ported over. Unless of course the intention is to have PowerView parity between Excel and the Designer and you are planning on keeping the PowerQuery advanced features exclusive to Excel in order to differentiate the products; what should not happen though is that Excel gets fewer features than PowerBI Designer. A clear statement on what the future of Excel PowerQuery / PowerView is vis a vis the PowerBI Designer would probably help a lot in clearing up the confusion around these two tools.
RE: Data Catalog integration in PowerBI Designer
It has to. The data catalog is the glue hat can bind an *enterprise* BI strategy together. What's the point if your flagship BI tool doesn't know what it is? It's demoralising to see something like this scratching around on 40 something votes whilst the ability to write custom DAX is polling 250 (which is more than the total number of people worldwide that have bothered to learn DAX).

Connect Power BI designer to the Data Catalog. I would like to Get Data from data sources in the catalog
