I have 40,000 values in some of my core filters. Because the web UI only supports browsing through the filter values, I have to pre-filter each dashboard. I need the same search UI available in Excel filters.

Thanks for your feedbacks! We understand that advanced filter mode does not fully serve the need. We plan to add the search capability in. Stay tuned.

RE: Search my filter values in a dashboard
This is a very crucial function. Especially when working with large company data sets. Will this be added ASAP?
RE: Search my filter values in a dashboard
Yes Power BI should have this. This was in Power View I am just not following how MS is missing how important such little things are that makes a company choose another tool because of such little things. Also why would power BI be a step backwards in any aspect from power View.

If you are interested in this thread, you should trySmartFilter: http://okviz.com/smart-filter/
It currently has a 1,000 item limits, but we are considering how to customize it in an upcoming release...
RE: Search my filter values in a dashboard
I agree this isn't completed. The request was to filter values IN A DASHBOARD. Advanced filtering is for a REPORT.
RE: Search my filter values in a dashboard
Fully agree on this topic.
RE: Search my filter values in a dashboard
Agree with need for more advanced filtering. If we're going to expand use of Power BI beyond simpler self-service into corporate/enterprise BI needs, more advanced filtering such as what Meagan described in her comment would be extremely helpful.
RE: Search my filter values in a dashboard
There is a difference in functionality between using contains and being able to search the filter values as we could in Power View. If I'm looking for a name and I want to search for "Jim W" because I can't remember Jim's last name is Williams, I don't want to select all Jim W's. I just need a shortcut to help me get to the one value I'm looking for.
RE: Search my filter values in a dashboard
I agree. We need to be able to search the filter list as we did in PowerView.
RE: Search my filter values in a dashboard
i don't understand why powerview and excel has a search pane and power bi not...
what is the purpose of fancy reports when the filter functionality is poor... the existing solution with contains (advanced filtering) is not a good solution when you want to filter first and then select values in the filtered results. so not completed for me...
