There is currently not path for developing and deploying Power BI Site Reports/Dashboards developed against on-premise Tabular AS cubes (via AS Connector). This effectively forces us to develop in production (and is detrimental to Power BI being as an enterprise grade tool). Ultimately, we need a way to change connections on the datasets underlying reports. We could then develop a new report against a "dev" cube and then promote it to the "prod" cube.

Cant use PBI Desktop for building reports from live feeds via ASA. So, this functionality needed in the PBI Web too!

If you created the report in Power BI Desktop, you can change the connection and point to a different server or database

This is something our Company really needs! We have multiple customers with the same dataset but we have to rebuild the same reports/dashboards over and over again just because this function isn't there. Would be fantastic if this functionality was integrated

Will Thompson!! Please consider this because people look for the safety of the reports and dashboards they have created on app.powerbi.com with all that time and effort they have invested in creating them!!

Also, this feature is needed to export the dashboards and reports and stored them in TFS for safety.

Let's say Power BI Dashboard and report has been created using DataSet-A (Test Server)

Export/Import feature for dashboard and report should be enable so that the same dashboard and report can be imported and linked to DataSet-B (Production)

especially for SSAS tabular dataset.

RE: Change Datasets Under Power BI Site Reports (i.e. Deployment Model)

I'd like to change the dataset reference for existing reports (and therefore dashboards). Report objects would have a meta-data attribute that described the dataset used, and provide the user a capability to swap the connection reference to another dataset. If the schemas between the datasets don't match, then obviously the report should break. But, if the schema matches, a source change should be otherwise seamless to the user.
