In late 2016, Power BI improved our export data options to allow exporting up to 150,000 rows to Excel from a visual on a Power BI dashboard for Pro users. If you require higher limits, please vote on this idea. If you have more specific requirements, please leave them in the comments.

There are longer term plans to allow larger exports in that use case, but there isn't a current timeline as to when that will be available. Customers who have Power BI Premium can set a drill-through to paginated reports via URL parameters as a workaround in the interim, as there is no data export limit for paginated reports.

RE: Increase Export Data Limits
We should be able to export what we put into it... #HotelCalifornia Any updates on an ETA?
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
The limit of records to be exportable should be adjustable by report designer. For example if by design of report developer, export to CSV should support unlimited records. Or - offer an option for the user to select a "sample" when pulling the report, eg first x records, or the complete dataset. For large datasets, add a warning such as "this dataset contains 1,232,353 records and may take a long time to export. Do you want to continue?"
Another idea is to add a status/progress bar for % complete and estimated time to complete as the export runs.
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
Great that you address this. Would be perfect. We have a clear need of being able to process more than 150k rows in R visuals; actually, borderline deal breaker for us. Thanks!

RE: Increase Export Data Limits
I agree, there should be no export limits
We need to process files with more than 150000 rows and 16MB of records

We need to process files with millions of records

RE: Increase Export Data Limits
The capabilities of Power BI to transform data are great. The transformed data cannot currently be used in other reports / applications because we can not export it from Power BI. This really limits a lot of uses for the product.
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
I agree. There should not be a limit. We need to process files with millions of records. 30k-csv/150k-xlsx limit has no sense.
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
There shouldn't be any restriction on amount of rows to be exported. May be it can split records to more than one excel with each excel containing up to 100,000 rows making it convenient for users in case the record count is huge
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
I agree that there should be no limit when it comes to exporting data.
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
Hallelujah!!! Hugely glad to see it's finally being addressed and, since data volumes keep increasing year over year, we definitely hope it will allow a full data dump.
