In late 2016, Power BI improved our export data options to allow exporting up to 150,000 rows to Excel from a visual on a Power BI dashboard for Pro users. If you require higher limits, please vote on this idea. If you have more specific requirements, please leave them in the comments.

There are longer term plans to allow larger exports in that use case, but there isn't a current timeline as to when that will be available. Customers who have Power BI Premium can set a drill-through to paginated reports via URL parameters as a workaround in the interim, as there is no data export limit for paginated reports.

RE: Increase Export Data Limits
Please remove the limit as this now makes our competitors more powerful than Power BI
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
Why set a limit? What's the thought behind it? Just remove the limit, it'll help all of us.
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
Please set the export limit to the current excel worksheet row limit less 5 row header space and keep them pegged together.
There are many times when power users need to build an excel model off of dashboard data for future scenario analysis. Getting that data from the same source as the power bi dashboard would make this process much easier.
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
Adam, does the same 30,000 limit also apply to Power BI Desktop and if so, can you please provide a reference link? Can the Desktop limit be increased?
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
Dear power Bi team,
I'm using power BI as well as other tools in many different environments. Today PowerBI is a very nice and flexible solution, yet its competitors are offering data export with a virtually "unlimited" set of rows. I think the issue is not technical here but functional.
We do all agree, trend is not to export everything from consolidated repo back to users spreadsheet - and lose control over data quality .
But when it comes to prototyping / checking data accuracy / checking ETL processes with QC. Then it is a real showstopper.
Thanks for helping us leveraging this fantastic tool!
Kind regards.
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
Why limit the export to less than Excel can handle? 150K is great unless your data set is 150,001 or higher...Granted we are trying to change business culture to stop exporting large data sets, assuming they are exporting to do other stuff with but it takes time to get all of the custom work arounds sorted out and provided for. The export limit is one of our biggest complaints from the detractors here.
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
It will be great for free user to increase the export rows to 50,000 or 100,000.
RE: Increase Export Data Limits
500,000 would be a nice limit for us. The tool is outputting things from our database which has a very complicated but limited front-end application. No one thought it would ever be easy to retrieve so many records so efficiently. The export function increasing to 150k was great for us, but there are many cases where a larger limit would be very helpful. We have a lot of individual transactions tied to projects that we would like to use the tool to export out.
