Since the change to Apps instead of Content Packs this has become a real weakness. Right now the majority of my Power BI Pro consumers (because that's the tier they have to have) can do nothing but read the reports and dashbaords. My team and I use a small number of data sources and connect to the Power BI Live Service to set up "secondary reports". This has revolutionised the way we do business, but at this point when one of our consumers has an idea or wants to develop a report my team have to undertake it, that's not ideal as it makes us the bottle neck, with content packs they could clone the pack and then reconfigure/redesign.

REQUIREMENT

Add a check box to the App publication screen to allow App consumers to connect to the Data source via Power BI Desktop, this would allow them to build their own reports to view on their Desktop, if it is decided to be promoted I would guess it would need to be imported via the admin team so my team would take the report and update the Power BI Service source, publish it and then update the app.

Right now it feels like a major backwards step for Power BI
