What about adding input fields to the dashboard widgets. Kind of like the text field but it is enabled for user input. This input field can be used in new column and new measure fields so that once the dashboard is set up the user can easily (without filtering) explore the data by entering different values such as if you had an input box for unit price. Then if you change it all the charts of total sales, revenue, etc. Will update to reflect what would happen if you increase the price by 10%. This will enable people to quickly and easily interrogate the data

Hi everyone. This is something we'd like to get to in the future but don't have any plans for at the moment.

RE: input fields

It would be really helpful if users could flag certain table items or select a priority for them.

RE: input fields

super important to be able to add comments bound to a table in the data model so these comments can be shown with formatting and linked to unique identifiers

RE: input fields

This would be VERY useful in customer reporting, as the customer wants to add comments for certain records, provide new instructions, etc.

This is stopping us from using powerBI for our customer reporting for many customers.

RE: input fields

My workaround is to keep a list of possible values in my table, then user has to select from it. But this must not be the case.

4 years after, how is this still in the backlog? anyone who wants to analyze data (which I assume the purpose of PBI in the first place) has to have the flexibility to put values freely to see how data will respond to the changes.

RE: input fields

How is this still on the backlog - Spotfire can do it - that's the only reason to keep using it over Power BI...

RE: input fields

Adding my vote to this idea. Not being able to set variables is a limitation. It would be workable if there was a slick UI to parameters.
