What about adding input fields to the dashboard widgets. Kind of like the text field but it is enabled for user input. This input field can be used in new column and new measure fields so that once the dashboard is set up the user can easily (without filtering) explore the data by entering different values such as if you had an input box for unit price. Then if you change it all the charts of total sales, revenue, etc. Will update to reflect what would happen if you increase the price by 10%. This will enable people to quickly and easily interrogate the data

Hi everyone. This is something we'd like to get to in the future but don't have any plans for at the moment.

RE: input fields

https://www.acterys.com is built for write-back and planning in Power BI and includes this feature. 5 related Power BI custom visuals are available on Appsource. The visual on it's own though will not work, as any write-back requires a web service to manage input. Acterys offers this out of the box.

RE: input fields

Kind of a given to have this feature. May have to go back to Tableau.

RE: input fields

Seems like this could be achieved by using an excel doc or SP List as a source, embedding a Power App and refresh (action button). Thoughts?`

RE: input fields

Five years on, and this is still nowhere to be seen. This would really be useful, and I can see so many uses for it. Why has this not been implemented?

RE: input fields

This lack of functionality coupled with the inability to export report/dashboard comments y hinders our use of PBI as an end-to-end tool. We are continually having to export to excel or Ppt to get a management end product.

It also significantly limits senior management engagement and challenges effectiveness of self serve as an analytical output beyond operational reporting.

RE: input fields

I did come up with a way to already do this in my dashboard.

For example, I can look at sales and see what happens if i increase Price, Cost or Qty per a certain amount.
