If a user only has read access he cannot create a customized dashboard from all the reports he can read. Giving the reader this possibility would allow users to quickly make actual personalized dashboards with all the tiles they find relevant.

RE: Enable readers to pin tiles

Of the 650+ employees in my company, most are end-users who don't need and shouldn't have the ability to edit a report. Being able to filter a report to view data applicable to them and then pin those visuals to their dashboard is a relevant use case for an end-user. However, currently there is no way to do this (Viewers can't edit and also can't pin. Contributors can both edit and pin).

RE: Enable readers to pin tiles

I can't believe this is not possible. Every time I get a little further with my implementation strategy something unbelievably stupid like this comes along.

so the options are;

1. Wade through the 50 million "app workspaces" that also include every sharepoint group that I am a member of or have been invited to help do something on, making the whole "gather the info you need into one place" an impossibility.

2. Install an "app" that contains a load of information made by someone else, only some of which i want to consume, navigate to the relevant app based on the info you need (you know, not a combination of HR, Facilities, and other data relevant to my dept that is published by another.

3. Publish a content pack, install it for the user, make a copy of it, delete the original, and then finally I can pin some tiles. Publisher updates, I get a notification that it's updated but all i can do is delete it and reinstall it (UX anyone??). Just the most god awful process.

4. Allow every user who wants access to pin a tile they can see to a dashboard edit rights to the workspace containing all reports and just hope they don't change anything and ruin it for other users (also, any changes made in the service are wiped out if i update from PBI Desktop).

RE: Enable readers to pin tiles

Microsoft have made Power BI pro all about sharing, however Sharing is really problematic without this. If you have an organisation with a number of report authors then the only practical way for them to work is within an App Workspace. Publishing the App out then makes absolute sense. However then the data consumers can't create dashboards filtering on just their data.

RE: Enable readers to pin tiles

If a report is read-only, they should have the ability to pin a particular visual to create their own PERSONAL dashboard. This is a huge feature that is missed. What's the hurt here? This needs to get fixed as it is a HUGE opportunity for someone like an HR Business Partner to pin multiple tiles and create their own dashboards of metrics that are just relevant to their business stream.

RE: Enable readers to pin tiles

This is a must have feature for us. Users have access to reports in different workspaces or content packs. They should then be able to pin a visual from any report to a personal Dashboard in their own workspace.

RE: Enable readers to pin tiles

I agree! If I've created a report, created a dashboard from it and shared the dashboard with certain users, they should be able to pin whatever they'd like to that dashboard!

RE: Enable readers to pin tiles

We are struggling with this too. I don't understand why the security is setup this way. Please allow users to pin tiles to their dashboards without edit rights.

RE: Enable readers to pin tiles

This is an urgent feature ! In terms of data governance, this is a great and easy way to standardize the reports used in various dashboards, and give power back to end-users.

RE: Enable readers to pin tiles

This feature is really missing in a "self-service" tool.
