Right now, If I use PowerBI desktop to create a dataset, report and dashboard. I am not able to share it with a standard user. This effectively means that we have to either licence everyone as a pro (very expensive for 4k people), or not use the pro features at all (which isn't what we want).

Pro users should be able to build and schedule the PowerBI, and then be able to share with any company user using AD security groups.
Without these options the tool may not be a viable option...

RE: Share a Pro dashboard with a standard user

As a global company with over 100000 users this does not become an optionable tool

RE: Share a Pro dashboard with a standard user

Hi Team,

I actually love to recommend and use Power BI as the BI Tool that our organisation in looking for. But there's no use of buying 2000 Pro license for the users who are just viewers for the reports not the creators.

Please review this idea again to capture the entire BI market. Need help.

Thanks

Why was this declined? No way of talking about the pricing scheme?

This issue seriously affects the usability of Power BI. It makes no sense that viewers should have a Pro license.

RE: Share a Pro dashboard with a standard user

how about
1. charging by per report say 1cents per clicked report

2. do POC on trial for big quantity environment, see the trend of usage. if the growth per click is higher, perhaps can consider raise the fee of the PRO to say double up the subscription to USD240/ annum (???) with unlimited free viewer users

RE: Share a Pro dashboard with a standard user

I agree with the previous comments, our organization will not license hundreds of users that simply view reports and will not actually create any for pro simply because the creators need to have a gateway to update data. Please review this Microsoft.

RE: Share a Pro dashboard with a standard user

this needs to be looked at - we're a growing company wanting to publish dashboards but we aren't prepared to pay for every user to have a Pro licence to view them

RE: Share a Pro dashboard with a standard user

This functionality is absolutely necessary. There are 2 kinds of users in an organization. Those who build reports and dashboards and those who consume dashboards. They cannot be treated as the same. This idea cannot be declined.

RE: Share a Pro dashboard with a standard user

Hi guys,

Was this feature recently added? I read a lot about this problem of a pro user not being able to share a report with a standard user, but i've tried it at my organization and it works fine.

Can you please check and confirm, am i missing anything?
