We really love the new feature of 'Composite Models' in the Power BI July 2018 update! This enables us to join custom lists with DirectQuery sources.

It would also be beneficial if this would also work when connected to SSAS Tabular in DirectQuery.
This would stronlgy improve the enterprise features of Power BI.

This is being worked on! It's a long project but active development has started. Stay tuned for more information. Thanks for all the votes and support!

Completely agree. This would really help with the single source of truth while retaining all the Power BI features that you lose with dataflows (ie. grouping, parameters). Not to mention it can all be done on a pro license, not premium.

Composite model is very much needed in PBI Report Server.

Yes please. We have custom budgets that aren't added into our SSAS because they're very niche. They're tracked manually in excel, currently. Would be great to track them in Power BI instead.

This is highly relevant and needed for us enterprise users.

Definitely a ‘must have’ for an enterprise solution. My users work with a live connection to SSAS (cannot download the entire dataset on each worker's machine) but then want to integrate with data on the fly, perhaps coming from the latest market data, which would never made it to the datacentre on time to be useful to the final report.

As far as I know, Microsoft is working on this feature undercover.
