If I have a date/time field in my data, I should be able to view metrics by year, by month, by day, by day of week, by time of day, and so on. I should be able to drill from month down to day, back up to month, and so on.

I should also be able to ask for 'last 7 days' or '12 months ago' in my formulas, filters etc.

I shouldn't need to create a "Date" table and all of these fields in my data. As long as I have a date/time field in my data, I should be able to do this analysis easily in the Power BI report (or Q&A).

In the May release of Power BI Desktop we shipped a preview of the relative date slicer. To learn more check out this blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-feature-summary/ In addition, the new Quick Measures feature has a bunch of time intelligence calculations that you can add to your model. In SSAS tabular or in Excel we have a way to set datedim as Date type so that time intelligence like previousquarter YOY etc could be easily used. Why cant we have such thing here?

It is a real pain that you have to setup a separate date query everytime you want a date hierarchy. vote vote vote......

This was the first issue we came across within about 5 mins of using PBI. It unfortunately makes the easy analysis of any timeseries data virtually impossible.

Very sad to say, but this has pushed us to an alternative product where this functionality is extremely easy and well developed.

I'm amazed that this is not possible already.

Come on Microsoft, make the product live up to its name!

This is forcing us to choose a competitor until MS can handle dates. Disappointed.

I can't believe this is "under review". The person that is deciding what's most important needs to rethink how they're doing that. This should have been fixed already. Right now, when you drilldown to month, it ignores the year!! I have data from Nov 2015 to Feb 2016 and it's ordering it like January, February, November, December. This is silly.

Really need to be able to drill down to week level. Now it only supports from month to day.. Any update? :)

It'd be so nice if powerbi could perform simple data aggregation based on date/time.
