Ability to select multiple items in a chart say multiple bars, pie's etc and automatically have filters applied to all the existing reports. this helps to highlight anomalies and see all the surrounding reports changes as we do it and showcase risks/opportunities

As of the February update, we now support cross-highlighting across multiple visuals! You can read the details in my blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-february-2018-feature-summary/#crosshighlight

Doesn't this work if you have a proper hierarchy? At least this works for me on a date hierarchy. Put Years in one slicer, Months - in another and here you go.

For me, this is the one major drawback of Power BI and Tableau/Qlik hold a major competitive advantage because you can explore the data with just the click of a mouse.
I cannot advocate the integration of PowerBI within my organization without this feature. It is truly crucial.

'@Adam Ctrl click only filters multiples within the same visual (for me anyway). What is being asked is the ability to click within multiple visuals and each retain the filtering of what was selected. I'm desperate for this feature too. Right now I have to add many slicers to reports to achieve this and it really detracts from the data exploration process.

Not sure if I am barking up the wrong tree here, but I just hold Ctrl and that lets me click on multiple visuals at once

Would be very useful for analytics. Nearly all users of our Power BI Dashboards ask how to filter for multiple items.

Please add this to aid story telling, a topic that came up a lot at Data Insights Summit in Seattle earlier this week.

RE: Ability to select multiple items in a report for cross-highlighting

Visual interaction require lots of improvements, it is confusing a lot. The cross filtered graphs should show only relevant data based on the first click. The highlight and dehighlight is not useful when there are many items in X axis / Y axis.
