Be able to connect to an ESRI ArcGIS geodatabase to view and query on feature classes.

RE: ArcGIS geodatabases

We want the ability to publish ArcGIS maps online/embedded. Make it a subscription or enable access to a paid ArcGIS account.

It would be great and interesting added value for power bi if we can connect to GIS online account.

RE: ArcGIS geodatabases

Any update on this idea?

Enterprises need to use custom layers without public sharing.

RE: ArcGIS geodatabases

Yes please. Our company subscribes to many of ESRI's features would like to be able to connect to our subscription.

Also, the ability to consume Esri Shape columns - like polygons or polylines, or even points.

The ability to add lines that connect stops on a truck's daily route.

RE: ArcGIS geodatabases

Connecting to an ArcGIS Geodatabase isn't the same as visualizing with Esri maps. There are two ways we use to connect to an ArcGIS database:

1. Connect to the underlying DBMS if there is one (eg, SQLServer).
2. Publish as a Feature Service, connect using the generic web connector, and parse the JSON. If your query returns more than one page, you'll have to connect to each page and append the queries.

The big weakness of these is that you lose the "spatialness" of your data as PowerBI can't consume Esri Shape columns - like polygons or polylines, or even points. To address this you'd need to parse the shape columns and provide a place to enter the spatial reference.
