I have a report page with multiple charts and visualizations. Let's say one of the chart shows Sales by Year and I drill down into 2013 to see the sales by month in 2013. Currently, the drill-down has no effect on the other charts and visualizations on the page; they still show data for all years, not just for 2013. Instead, I'd like other charts to drill down into 2013 or filter by 2013 as well.

Well this is exciting! We've just shipped the December release of Power BI Desktop, and I'm very pleased to say we've added the ability to apply filters from a visual when you drill into it. This is now the default for any new visuals; you can turn it on for existing visuals (or disable it if you don't want it) through the Format tab. Look for "Drilling filters other visuals". For those asking for the 2nd visual to drill-down as well, yes we can consider that. Please add another idea :)
@Jim, Power BI Report Server has a specific build of Desktop that releases on a slower cadence. This feature will make it into the next release (~Spring 2018).

Hey Will I got your December update. I can make the functionality work but can't upload to my reporting server. I get an error. Which version of report server is this compatible with ? any?

'- I have a report with say 4 visuals
- I click on say a bar within Chart 1(drill down chart) -> All the visuals filter accordingly
- I then click on a column in Chart 2 -> All visuals filter based on the selection in Chart 1 and Chart 2 (currently chart 1 filter goes away at this point)
do we have any other alternative to full fill above requirement .

Thanks for the update, but i am completely missing the cross-filtering functionality if you select more than one visual. I do not want to drill down, but filter on the selection of another visual(s). These should be combined, just like slicers work.
Still a Major gap if you look at the other bi competitors

The drill down works as expected, pushing the filter to other visuals. However, cross-filtering be selecting elements in two or more visuals is critical without drilling down.

Congratulations, this is a good progress step.
But I believe this is not exactly the complete need that was expressed initially. Drill-down is one way to navigate between visuals on a same page. But what about cross-filtering visuals by multi-selecting different elements on different visuals, without drilling down?
Not to name it, this is still a major gap with one of PowerBI main competitor on the market...

well, thanks for getting it done quickly, but it is not what I expected. For our case, we needed the other visuals on the page, to drill down simultaneously along with the visual where drill down happens. We have 2 visuals on the page, showing Geo, Area, Sales region hierarchy for total sales value, and another with Profit margin. The problem is, if I drill into APJ on the Sales value visual, profit margin visual, will just be filtered for APJ, not drill down to Area. I dont like it, as it does not serve the intended purpose.
