I have volumes of information to share with my teams that is best presented in tables and matrices. It would be a huge improvement if they were able to export the data from the visualizations and have the formatting in Excel match the formatting created within PowerBI.
This would be especially helpful for ongoing forecasting activities.

Thanks for your feedback on this issue - while we'd like to enable this, there is currently no timetable around doing so. There is the option as a workaround the create a paginated view as a drillthrough of the visual and have a formatted version you can export to Excel, but understand this isn't a solution everyone can take advantage of currently.

We need this, but here are two more workarounds, just for fun.
1. Create a table with the same format that the matrix exports in Power BI, open the analyzer and copy the dax query and then connect to the datasource in Power BI Report Builder. Build a matrix there, and export that directly. You may have to add sort column as a row above the column headers to get them to sort. Export of matrix works perfectly from Power BI Report Builder.
2. Analyze in Excel the report. Build a pivot table from the live data model. The advantage of this solution is no export to excel is needed.

This is a huge missing in Power BI. You should be able to create an XLSX export beyond a simple CSV.

and I hope they consider the export of the matrix as is on the screen to excel. Dumping thousands of rows from an aggegated visual is dumb.

Hopefully, this feature will be enabled soon. I have tried the paginated work around, and it performs poorly. The performance is faster using an OLAP connection through Excel to the dataset.

Please make it a priority to add this feature. This is a badly needed feature for our financial folks using this product, it should be a priority.
