It would be great to conditional format a table and/or a matrix based on the cell text, not only numbers

This month we added the ability to format text fields based off a numeric field: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-2018-feature-summary/#conditionalFormatting We also are planning on adding a feature that will let you format your text based on comparisons. I'll update this idea based on our progress on that feature.

I echo this comment -
"Seems like a no-brainer. It would be very useful to have a DAX function to set font color/background conditionally: IF([A]-[B]=0,FORMAT("In Balance","Color:Green"),FORMAT("Out of Balance",Color:Red"

RE: Conditional Formatting for Text

Crazy that this doesn't exist! Is this on the roadmap yet?

RE: Conditional Formatting for Text

Are there more plans to make this functionality better?
It would be really great to conditionally format based on "TEXT" criteria, and well as using "IF" statements

RE: Conditional Formatting for Text

I also need this functionality to format based on field value. For example, I need to format a field as follows :
Current=Green
Grace=Yellow
Expired=Orange
Closed=Red

RE: Conditional Formatting for Text

Wow, it's pretty ridiculous that this is not a feature.

It takes me less than 10 seconds to do this basic function in Excel, but Power BI ( an incredibly powerful BI tool) can't format based on text value of a field/cell?

All I want is to format all items where Cost="High" with a Red Background.

RE: Conditional Formatting for Text

It's a feature that seems so basic, but is surprisingly missing. I would agree with the others that we should be able to have conditional formatting based upon string matching.

RE: Conditional Formatting for Text

Based on text, and remove the aggregation (count and distinct count)
