The most common request from my users is for Power BI to save the filters and settings that a user applies on a report. Currently they need to re-apply everytime they open it.

Hey everyone, the wait is finally over. For those who follow our blog closely, we shipped this feature in the service earlier this month: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-persistent-filters-in-the-service/ Thanks again for all the support!

RE: Save user filters on reports

User filters are not saved unless the user edits the report. We need the ability to publish a content pack with reports and dashboards that users can filter for their specific needs without having to create a personalized copy of the content pack. The issue with a personalized content pack is when administrators publish changes to the content pack, those changes are not made to personal content packs. If users had the ability to save filters without saving the report, this might be a good option for distributing changes to content packs.

RE: Save user filters on reports

Hi Sharath,
I understand this request as some kind of bookmarking feature. A lot of users call the different reports with recurring selections (e.g., first task in the morning: open report xyz and click filter1.1, filter 4.3, filter 6.2) -> see result. It would be a better user experience if the user would simply have to call his own last "bookmark".

RE: Save user filters on reports

There is a bug right now in the persistent visual level filters which I've logged. Additionally the ability to save the options selected within the filters are not persistent and that would be super helpful.

Sharath:
I was looking for a consumer of my dashboard who has put his own values criteria to the filters we have supplied to then save it as My saved search or filters so that when he or she comes back next time they do not reset values to lets say five fields again to see the view they were interested in.

RE: Save user filters on reports

Sharath: Currently, only the report author can go to edit mode and set filter settings, which are then distributed to all users of the report.

We are asking for that everyone with access to the report can set and save their own filter settings. This could be done with a "Save Filters" button on the Reading View toolbar (same place as FILE, EDIT REPORT etc). This should work regardless of what method was used for sharing the report.

I think this feature is alreadys covered with slicers to some extent. Nevertheless i think that it would be useful to have bookmarks for the users.

RE: Save user filters on reports

Also when using the drill down/up functionality your filters are reset, these need to be persistent while interacting with the visualization rather than just loading in a whole new one from scratch
