datasets/reports only show latest data. Would like to be able to schedule each month to save a point-in-time snapshot of the report/dataset as it is at that time. Then I can show a client their report from this month, or last month, or one year ago. Not just the data as it is at the latest refresh

Absolutely a requirement. Leadership needs to see month-over-month trends, but data that is updated daily makes me have to manually capture and build this. My goal is seomthing like this: My PowerBI looks at today's data & does a bunch of work to get a KPI (say, a count of something), and automatically stores that result with a datestamp. Over time I can show trends of those results.

I would specifically like to see this in PBIRS. This is a common request from stakeholders that we could deliver more quickly than having lobby for developer resources to implement for each data source.

Indeed a very helpful feature I'm surprised to learn is still not available...

Yes please. This would make it easier to develop KPI bowling charts over time when the data is changing but has no timestamp.

RE: Allow for point-in-time snapshots for reports/dataset

Agree with the comments here. Snapshot reports/datasets are a fundamental part of a BI/BA tool. Without this being built-in, it is incredibly laborious on a PER-REPORT BASIS. One should not have to involve project and money requests on a PER-REPORT BASIS just to get snapshot cards. The entire point of business analytics, data analysis, and business intelligence is to enable self-service for content creators. Every type of dashboard I create has at least a few tracking/snapshot cards from the live views. Right now, this has to be put into flat files on a sharepoint (what?!?!?!) or involve IT to create a data source for EACH report I want snapshot/tracking card. When a card has twenty data points or some really small number

Essential feature for tracking the movement of metrics over time where the data is not captured in the source data e.g. trend of customer count per energy tariff over time

Very useful. All the workarounds I've found are laborious and require manual data exports.
